Save Me, Mickey

Pg. 17
“Because we were new to this country, we were impressed not just by the big attractions but also by the little things- smiling employees, clean bathrooms, and clear signage. Our ability to be impressed by the large selection of key chains at the souvenir shops guaranteed that every place we saw delighted us.”

This quote appealed to me because it is very true. In some countries, their bathrooms were very much disgusting (I’ve experienced some before) and clean ones were hard to find. Plus, employees have to be nice to their customers and be annoyingly happy. But the reverse thing happened in Children of the River. Sundara noticed a lot of the little things that we wouldn’t even think of. Like the teacher reading out loud work and some of the little things bothered her instead of delight. But they were some things listed that delighted them like the custom where it’s a no no to have two wives at once unlike in Cambodia.

Pg. 22
“We had to leave Disneyland early that day because my father was too weak in the knees to continue. Even the thought of “Pirates of the Caribbean” could not revive him.”

My dad thinks that the only way to enjoy an amusement park is to go there as earliest as you can and then go home at the latest. Following him would lead to riding every ride at least twice and making your feet sore. Him and Kazem may be taking it too the extreme but life is short and you’ve got to live it to the fullest right?

  1. I agree how some places bathrooms are disasters, and how we take little things for granted that other people might think the world of. That is why people should be thankful for everything that they have.

I defiantly agree to live life to the fullest! It's too short, once you look back you will be regretting what you didn't do.

I really liked reading your responses to your quotes, they interested me so much.
